I’ve been thinking about the ups and downs of life a lot here lately, and I’ve come to realize that life is 50/50.
It is amazing, joyful and rich 50% of the time. The other 50% of the time is … well … challenging.
And nothing is wrong with that.
In fact, I believe life was designed this way. I believe being human means we experience it all.
The reason the ‘other 50%’ feels wrong is because we don’t want to experience the hard parts.
(Also a normal part of being human … we just want the good stuff.)
We don’t like the hard parts. We don’t want to feel the pain and go through the struggle. We don’t want to fail, lose out, fall short, see relationships end, grieve, etc.
(Of course we don’t.)
We want to stay in the amazing 50%, and we often see the other 50% as a crashing, all-consuming wave that will surely drown us.
But, what if it is a big, beautiful wave and we can just learn to ride it?
What if we can all learn to surf?
The surfer doesn’t fear the big, wild crashing wave because she knows she can ride it. She knows the wave is sure to come. She’s prepared. She’s ready. She knows how to stand on top of the biggest, most overwhelming wave and ride it. She knows wild waves are part of the journey. She paddles right into them, head up, steady and prepared for the ride.
My friend … life, work, relationships, reaching your goals … it is all 50/50 and that’s okay. When you are in the muck of it all, you can surf.
If you are ready to learn how to surf, I can help you learn to ride the waves. The first step is to book a discovery call with me. After that, we get to surfing!
