Running a business as a coach or consultant means you’re in constant energy exchange.
You’re holding space for clients.
Creating content.
Making decisions.
Navigating emotions — yours and theirs.
Dreaming, adjusting, serving, showing up.
Your energy is your most valuable asset. But if you don’t have a rhythm that protects it, it will leak into everything: your rest, your relationships, your creativity, and eventually … your results.
One of my clients had fully embraced flow.
She’d spend hours journaling in the park, waiting for inspiration to strike. When it did, she’d ride that spark… until it fizzled (which didn’t take long).
Another client was in permanent go-mode.
Always hustling. Always tweaking. Always doing.
Rest felt impossible. Guilt was constant.
They couldn’t have been more different — but they had something in common:
They were always in their business, but rarely in control of it.
This is why one of the first things I do to help my entrepreneur clients is assist them in identifying and building out their own soulful structure.
Soulful structure is not rigidity.
It’s not about productivity hacks or someone else’s 12-step program.
And it’s definitely not about being as hard on yourself as your worst boss ever was.
Soulful structure is the rhythm that holds your energy with care.
It’s the invisible scaffolding that supports your creativity, your leadership, your results — and your well-being.
At its core, soulful structure involves two key components:
When you know when your business is open (and when it’s not), and when your energy is flowing out (and when it comes back in), everything changes.
At first glance, creating office hours might feel like a constraint — like you’re boxing yourself in or giving up the freedom you started your business to enjoy.
But in reality, clear office hours are one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself as an entrepreneur.
They’re not about control.
They’re an act of devotion to your dream.
A loving container that holds your energy, your creativity, and your well-being.
Because if you don’t decide when your business is open, the default becomes always … or never.
And that’s when burnout creeps in.
Or stagnation.
Or both.
And here’s the part we don’t talk about enough:
If you’ve chosen entrepreneurship to reclaim your time and your life — it makes sense that part of you resists structure.
Maybe you came from a career where your days were filled with back-to-back meetings, when what you really needed was space to think.
Maybe you had to be “on” when your natural rhythm called for rest.
Maybe your best ideas came when the world expected you to be quiet.
Of course you don’t want to recreate that.
But the solution isn’t making your days up as you go.
The solution is to soulfully support yourself by designing a day that works with you — not against you.
That’s the power of setting soulful office hours.
Running a business is a sacred exchange of energy. So treat it like one.
Think of your workday like an energetic portal:
You open it with intention.
You close it with care.
If it’s always open, your energy leaks.
If it’s always closed, your business can’t thrive.
The key is choosing when and how to walk through the doorway.
Opening rituals help you start the day grounded, not scattered.
Try:
These simple acts help you show up on purpose — not on autopilot.
Closing rituals help your energy return to you.
Try:
This is how you stop carrying your business into dinner … and how you come back stronger tomorrow.
Your dream business doesn’t need hustle.
And it doesn’t need constant flow.
It needs rhythm.
It needs presence.
It needs soulful structure — structure that honors how you work best.
When you build a business that opens and closes with intention, everything changes.
You feel clearer.
You operate with more calm.
You become more magnetic.
And the right clients feel it.
If you’re ready to design a rhythm that works for you — one that aligns your energy, strategy, and schedule — I’d love to help.
