There have been times when I felt so strongly about changing something in my life, my intense energy felt like fire to everyone around me.
Those times are often easily & conveniently labeled as “crises” in our culture. Mid-life crisis. Quarter-life crisis. Post-divorce crisis. Post-insert-any-life-transition-crisis.
What might have felt like crises to the observers of my life were actually signs of me awakening & returning to the original Erin.
Stepping into the path I was always meant to be on.
When it comes to convenient labels about my life purpose & path, I’ve learned to let ‘em say what their gonna say

I believe there are legitimate times a woman is in crisis. And, those times require love, support, and often professional help.
I also believe there are plenty of times when she isn’t in crisis at all; she is just awakening. Remembering exactly who she was always meant to be … before the world told her who she should be.
And, those times also require love, support, and professional help!
As women, it is important to remember that we have been told our entire lives (as were our mothers & their mothers before them):
– Who we are
– What life should look like
– That we exist mainly to serve & make others happy
– How we should look, act & talk
– What we can & can’t do
So anything – and I mean anything – that challenges this can make us think we are in crisis.
Moreover, it can make others around us think we are in crisis, falling apart, melting down … or any number of things that will help us easily slide right back into ‘our place’.
If you have a pull in your heart, an intuition that won’t go away, a deep desire to stop doing what you have always been told you should do … you might just be waking up.
You might be stepping into the woman you were always meant to be.
That woman – your original, soulful self – deserves some exploration.
Here are three ways you can start exploring:
– Identify your core values.
– Identify what you wanted to ‘be’ at different stages of life. What job, mom, world-traveler, etc. Then, look for common themes.
– Make a list of ‘rules’ you live by (e.g., I have to weigh this to be attractive; Good moms don’t _____; I have to have a stable, corporate job). Then, write down where you learned that rule, how it serves you, and what life would be like if you let that rule go.
And, if you want a kick-ass exploration partner who has done the work herself, won’t judge you or tell you who you are, and will have your back the whole way … I’m your gal!
